Ana Thiel

Ana Thiel es, en palabras de la crítica de arte Mónica Mayer, una artista con “la habilidad para rascarle a uno el espíritu y estrujarle el corazón”. Forma parte del Sistema Nacional de Creadores del CONACULTA. Ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos, el más reciente de los cuales es el primer premio en la Primera bienal de Arte en Vidrio, del Museo del Vidrio y CONACULTA. Su obra ha sido expuesta y se encuentra en museos y colecciones internacionales. Ha sido artista residente en Japón, España, y EUA, y en simposiums en Egipto y Ucrania. Thiel está incluida en una variedad de publicaciones prestigiosas y ha presidido y formado parte de diversas mesas directivas de asociaciones y museos de arte. Imparte constantemente cursos y conferencias sobre arte, creatividad y escultura en instituciones de cultura alrededor del mundo.

Ana Thiel is, in words of art critic Mónica Mayer, an artist with the ability to “scratch one’s spirit and wring one’s heart.” She has twice been the recipient of a three-year fellowship from the Mexican Council for the Arts, given to artists of high merit who have also significantly contributed to the culture of the country. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, the most recent of which is the first prize at the First Biennial of Art and Glass from the Museum of Glass and the National Council for the Arts in Mexico. Her work is exhibited and forms part of national and internationial museums, collections and prestigious publications. She has been artist-in-residence in Japan, Spain and the USA as well as symposiums in the Ukraine and Egypt. Thiel is included in a variety of prestigious publications, and has served on many art museum and art association boards in leadership and advisory positions. She constantly offers workshops and lectures on art, creativity and scultpure in cultural institutions around the world.

Artist Bio: Ana Thiel won first prize at the 2006 Biennale of Art in Glass in Latinamerica and has twice been the recipient of a fellowship from the Mexican Council for the Arts. Her work is exhibited and forms part of international museums, and she has been an invited resident artist around the world.
